About this property

Welcome to Mountain View Suites

Mountain View Suites offers modest accommodations in a quiet, residential part of Jim Thorpe. The property features low-key rooms, some equipped with private decks, providing guests with scenic mountain views. The building’s historic character is reflected in its layout and design, including narrow staircases and vintage architectural details, which may appeal to travelers who appreciate old-world charm.

Guests have access to a shared kitchen and living area, creating a practical space for self-catering and socializing. Amenities include free Wi-Fi, free parking, and air conditioning. The hotel is smoke-free and family-friendly but does not permit pets, and it lacks on-site dining, a pool, fitness center, or airport shuttle service. Access involves climbing stairs, so it may not be suitable for those with mobility issues.

Conveniently located about a mile from the historic Asa Packer Mansion and close to several notable attractions such as the Old Jail Museum and Glen Onoko Falls, the property suits visitors interested in local heritage and outdoor activities. Nearby options for mountain sports include Blue Mountain Resort, and the scenic Lehigh Gorge Railway provides a unique regional experience.

Reviews reflect a generally positive experience with comfortable beds, cleanliness, and functional amenities like Keurig machines and spa baths in some suites. However, some guests have noted minor maintenance issues, limited ventilation in certain rooms, and the need for improved furniture layout for relaxation. Overall, Mountain View Suites is a practical choice for travelers seeking a quiet base with direct access to Jim Thorpe’s historic and natural attractions.

We were a little concerned after reading the online reviews but then were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Entry into the building through the front door was easy. Parking in the back was convenient. The living room and kitchen are quaint and clean. The stairs to the upper floors are narrow but we were prepared for that because we read the information on the website carefully. Our suite was perfect. It's an old, historic building, so we anticipated a gable roof and tight spaces. The bed was comfortable, sheets were clean, and the bathroom and spa bath were spotless. The Keurig coffee pot, microwave, refrigerator, and heat/AC all functioned as expected. The spa bath was a relaxing treat. For the price, this experience was marvelous. We'd definitely stay again. The only constructive criticism I would offer is regarding the back stairs and top balcony. The wood is damaged in spots from weather and the lighting could be better.

We stayed in Suite 4, on the top floor of the house. Liked the keypad entry and the privacy of the room. Enjoyed being a short drive away from the center of the busy town. We were able to get some dinner within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable. The only complaint was that the furniture could be arranged to be more relaxing for watching TV and relaxing in bed. We had to build a pillow backboard to watch a movie. But other than that, it was a nice quiet weekend. Just what we were hoping for. Would recommend!

Listen, I read the reviews late, after it was too late, and I was worried. Especially since I stayed in room 0, the basement room. Maybe I’m just not picky or something but I think my room is great. I don’t notice the issues anyone else says about this room. My only complaint is because of the minimal ventilation the smoke alarm went off when I showered so maybe add a fan somewhere, but otherwise my stay is great so far.

Great balcony, comfortable bed, big TV, terrific shower. Only 2 very minor quirks. A corner tub in the room with the bed when that space would be better used for any kind of dresser or table or even a chair. There's place to put your suitcase, no where to put your things. The second quirk is that there's a coffee maker on top of the microwave that sits on the mini fridge. It is not plugged in and the other appliances where already plugged in to the 2 outlets (and not easily accessible anyway unless I wanted to move a fridge & microwave to get to the plug) so I brought the coffee maker (which was full of water for some reason, spilling it on myself in the process) across the room, to the shelf below the tv that had the Kcups, creamer & paper cups (thinking it had been moved by mistake) but there's no plug there either unless I unplug the air-conditioning/heating unit & I'm pretty sure that's the wrong kinda plug anyway and I didn't want to chance it. I then tried to balance it on the nightstand but since it has the only lamp in the room, there's no room to put it there without loosing the light! So now I'm in the bathroom with the coffee maker balanced katty-cornered on the small sink to JUST get a stinking cup of coffee after all that there was only 4 small creamers (but like 8 Kcups??) but I did get a cup of coffee which I drank on the balcony staring at the beautiful mountain ridge.

Beautiful room and jacuzzi. Located in a residential area, not much within walking distance. Must be able to walk up flights of stairs. Nice communal room and kitchen on the first floor with a binder of things to do in the area. No cleaning service. Easy check-in by text. Parking out back. Add an extra flight of stairs to the floor you are on.

In June of 2022, my husband and i stayed in the second floor room with a king size bed and a Jacuzzi. The building and the room are beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the lovely bed hangings pictured on the site are actually there in the room! There is a cute sitting room, a small dining room, and kitchen on the first floor. The modern keyless doors are pretty cool, though our room door didn't have an actual handle and would therefore only stay closed while locked (not really a big deal). Everything was clean, with plenty of coffee and bathroom supplies. The shower is a little small, but i loved the large shower head. The Jacuzzi was also very nice, though clearly meant for one person. Parking on the street was limited and on a steep hill, parking in the back was a little easier but still hilly. There is a little convenience store nearby for quick needs, and we were able to order food delivered to the house. it's also pretty close to a lot of great places to visit in Jim Thorpe, including the train! Our only real complaint was that the need was way too hard. We barely slept all weekend because of it. Even just a mattress topper would help.

This charming old home turned hotel was everything we needed for a couples getaway in the mountains. Think of it as a B&B without the breakfast--check in and room keys are all electronic, there's a kitchen and living room to share, and you're nestled into the non-tourist side of Jim Thorpe among the locals. Transport into town could be a bummer, but it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet at night. Our room was small (suite 2) but all we needed was a bed and shower anyway plus Suite 2 gets its own private balcony! Mini fridge and Keurig in the room and the in-room jacuzzi was nice too. Everything was clean upon arrival. You'll be pleasantly surprised by this place!
